sometimes i dream wide awake
worlds tremble into existence
far off constellations call my name
i heed their call
and surrender
my aloneness is so vast
it mirrors the spaces between stars
like light travelling
hurtling
past distant galaxies
i reach out
and
sometimes
it reaches back
i quilt the stars
stitching black holes into planets
star systems into mantles
watching
waiting
as the universe folds in on itself
wondering
marveling
at the precariousness of life
here
and then gone
atoms dispersed
no longer i
no longer us
only stars
only dust
